Athena Kobin Silva, LMHC, ATR
Athena Kobin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and registered Art Therapist currently employed at a Federally Qualified Health Center as an outpatient clinician since 2015. She graduated from University of Rhode Island in 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and received her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Albertus Magnus College in 2014.
Specializing in group therapy, individual therapy and art therapy, Athena utilizes these skills in treatment of anxiety, depression and difficulty with transitions. She empowers individuals to take control of their emotional well-being and overcome personal obstacles to promote increased strength, growth and healing.
She also practices evidenced-based and art therapy-based interventions, in both individual and group settings to support positive change. In her past experience, Athena has worked with a variety of clients ranging from young children and adolescents to adults, since 2012.
Research shows the creative process facilitates individuals’ exploration of feelings, promotes reconciliation of emotional conflicts, fosters self-awareness, helps in managing behaviors and addictions, increased development of social skills, reduces symptoms (i.e. anxiety and depression), and increases self-esteem. Athena is able to offer individual counseling and group counseling for individuals managing anxiety, depression and other difficult experienced symptoms.
